Ingredients to make without tomato dumaalu

  • potato 3
  • oil 2 spoon
  • haldi powder [turmeric powder] 1 spoon
  • red chilli powder 1/2 tsp
  • cumin seeds - 2 tsp
  • kitchen king masala 1 tbsp
  • makhana 1 cup
  • onion chopped 1/2 cup
  • salt to taste

How to make without tomato dumaalu

  1. Wash, peel the potatoes and then cut them into halves.
  2. Deep fry these potatoes in hot oil. Fry until golden brown in color and then strain, keep aside.
  3. Heat some oil in a wok, add the cumin seeds and let then crackle.
  4. Now add the makhana, followed by onions. Saute for few minutes and then add the turmeric powder and red chilly powder.
  5. Now saute for few minutes.
  6. Now switch off the flame and grind this mixture into a paste using a mixer grinder.
  7. Now heat a pressure cooker pan with some oil. Add cumin seeds and let then crackle. Then add the makhana and onion paste. Saute for few seconds and then add rest of the spices. Mix well.
  8. Now add the fried potatoes and mix.
  9. Now add required amount of water, close the lis and cook until 3 whistles are attained.
  10. Open the lid and check for seasoning, serve hot with poori or paratha on the side.
