About Green peas cake ( dhokar dalna) curry Recipe

Dhokar dalna is a very famous veg curry in Bengali cuisine., made out of chana dal. Inspired by this, tried green peas dhokar dalna added very little chana dal for binding because green peas have no binding capacity.

Ingredients to make Green peas cake ( dhokar dalna) curry

  • Green peas - 2 cups
  • Soaked chana dal - 1/4 cup
  • green chillies - 5-6
  • Chopped ginger - 1/2 tbsp
  • salt.- 1 tsp
  • For gravy
  • cumin seeds -1 tsp
  • hing - 1/2 tsp
  • red chilly- 2 nos
  • bay leaf - 2 nos
  • turmeric pwd - - 1 tsp
  • cumin powder - 1tsp
  • coriander pwd - 1 tsp
  • red chilly powder - 1 tsp
  • Roasted cumin powder - 1 tsp
  • ginger paste- 1 tsp
  • ghee - 1 tbsp
  • tomato puree - 1/2 cup
  • curd - 1/2 cup beaten
  • sugar - 1 tsp
  • salt

How to make Green peas cake ( dhokar dalna) curry

  1. Boil the green peas. Mix with soaked chana dal after green peas cool. , grind them into paste with adding green chillies , ginger and salt.
  2. Heat very little oil in a pan and add pinch of hing and green peas paste. Cook for 5 minutes and take out from the gas. Pour on the greased plate and smooth by roll in pin. Cut it in a shape of diamond. Or shape of your choice.
  3. Heat ample amount of oil and deep fry the cut dhoka or peas cake.. Keep aside.
  4. In a separate pan heat oil, add cumin seeds , hing, bay leaves, red chilly and ginger paste. Fry for 1 minute. Add tomato puree and cook for while.
  5. Add all the masalas mix with curd ( except roasted masala) , cook properly till oil separated from the side. Add Water and fried dhoka . Seasoning with salt & sugar.
  6. Add ghee, roasted masala and serve.
