Chettinad Fish Fry

Ingredients to make Chettinad Fish Fry

  • Fish -1 kg
  • red chilli Powder -2 1/2 tbsp
  • coriander powder - 2 tsp
  • turmeric Powder -1/2 tsp
  • Chopped ginger -1 tsp
  • garlic pods -5
  • curry leaves -1 sprig
  • tamarind Paste -2 tsp
  • gram flour - 1 tbsp
  • oil -for fry
  • salt - to taste
  • FOR masala
  • cloves -4
  • Cinnaman -1
  • cardamom -3
  • pepper corns - 10
  • jeera -1/2 tsp
  • fennel seeds -1/2 tsp
  • star anise 2 petal
  • Nutmug Powder -1/2 tsp

How to make Chettinad Fish Fry

  1. First ground the ingredients "FOR MASALA " to a fine powder.Then add the red chilli powder,turmeric powder,coriander powder.Just pulse it for even mix.
  2. Finally add the ginger,garlic,curry leaves ,pulse it for 2 secs.In a bowl add the cleaned fish,salt,ground masala,tamarind paste.Mix it well and marinate for 30 mins.
  3. *Add the gram flour just before frying,mix it well.Heat oil in a kadai put the marinated fish pieces.Fry it well on both sides until golden brown.
  4. Serve it hot !!
