About Maa ki dal Recipe

It ia a famous punjabi whole urad dal preparation which is alao called as maa ki dal

Maa ki dal

Ingredients to make Maa ki dal

  • Whole urad dal 250 grams
  • salt as per taste
  • Red chillipowder 1/2 teaspoon
  • onion 2 finely chopped
  • garlic cloves 10
  • tomatoes 2 finely choppes
  • oil 2 tablespoons
  • hing a pinch
  • Whole red chillies 2
  • bay leaf 2
  • Milk 1 cup
  • cream 1 tablespooon
  • ghee 2 tablespoon
  • turmeric powder 1/2 teaspoon
  • Garam masala 1 teaspoon
  • jeera 1 teaspoon
  • coriander leaves to garniah
  • ginger an inch piece crushed

How to make Maa ki dal

  1. Soak the dal overnight
  2. Add dal in a cooker Add requisite amount of water
  3. Add 1 onion and some ginger and some garlic cloves
  4. Add salt turmeric powder
  5. Cook for 5 whistles
  6. Open the cooker and add milk
  7. Simmer for 25 to 30 minutes
  8. In a pan add oil
  9. Add jeera
  10. Add bay leaf and whole red chillies
  11. Add onion green chillies and ginger
  12. Add garlic
  13. Add red chilli powder
  14. Add garam masala powder
  15. Add the dal
  16. Adjust consistency and seasoning
  17. Add the ghee
  18. Simmer for 5 to 10 mins
  19. Swirltch off heat
  20. Add cteam ans coriander leaves for garnish
  21. Serve witb rotis
