About Mango Rasam Recipe

We love mangoes in all its forms..here a tangy spoupy version but using a ripe mango

Mango Rasam

Ingredients to make Mango Rasam

  • 1 ripe mango use the kaccha mango which got roped at home
  • For tampering
  • 1 tsp cumin pwdr
  • 1 tsp fresh whole roasted coriander pwdr,pounded
  • 1 tsp red chillie pwdr
  • 1 tsp turmeric pwdr
  • 1/4 tsp black pepper pwdr
  • salt to taste
  • 1 tbsp lemon juice
  • 4 garlic cloves crushed
  • 4 to 5 red chillie whole
  • 1 sprig curry leaves
  • 1 tsp whole cumin
  • 1 tsp mustard
  • Pure ghee 2 tsp

How to make Mango Rasam

  1. Peel the mango and Boil it the with 1 cup water for 1 whistle
  2. When the pressure is released, remove the seed and the pit and seive the pulp
  3. Heat ghee and add the mustard and cumin seeds
  4. Once they splutter, add the dry red chillies and garlic. Fry till garlic turns golden
  5. Add the haldi pwdr ,zeera pwdr, chillie pwdr ,black pepper pwdr ,salt and dhania pwdr
  6. Add the mango pulp and bring to a boil
  7. If you feel the rasam is too thick, add 1,/4 to 1/2 cup water
  8. Close the stove and add lemon juice and chopped coriander leaves
  9. Serve hot
  10. Adjust the tanginess as per your taste.
  11. If you like it spicy increase the chillie pwdr

My Tip:

Do not take very unripe mango.Prefer any desi raw mango and let it become yellow in the house for 2 to 3 days.
