Tomato rasam

Ingredients to make Tomato rasam

  • To grind:
  • cumin seeds - 1 tsp
  • peppercorns - 1 tsp
  • green chillies - 2
  • garlic - 10 pods
  • curry leaves - few
  • To boil :
  • tomato 2
  • turmeric powder 1/4 tsp
  • Soaked tamarind pulp - a small lemon size
  • To temper:
  • mustard seeds 1/4 tsp
  • curry leaves a sprig
  • oil 1 tbsp
  • coriander leaves
  • salt as required

How to make Tomato rasam

  1. Boil the ingredients under to boil section and let it cool down. Mash them together in hand and set aside.
  2. Grind the ingredients under to grind and add it to the tomato water.
  3. Add chopped coriander leaves and salt to it
  4. Now heat oil in a kadai and do the tempering and pour the tomato mixture into the pan and keep the flame in medium.
  5. Cook till you see a first boil and remove from heat.
  6. Serve hot with rice.
