Delicious prawns curry cooked in ground coconut with flavour of spices and coconut oil

Ingredients Serving: 3

  1. 250g prawns
  2. For Marination
  3. 1/2 tsp turmeric
  4. 1/2 tsp red chilli powder
  5. Salt to taste
  6. For ground paste
  7. 1/2 cup grated coconut
  8. 3 tbsp coriander seeds
  9. 5-6 dry red chillies
  10. 4 garlic cloves
  11. 8-10 shallots
  12. 1/2 cup water
  13. For curry
  14. 2.5 tbsp coconut oil
  15. 1 sprig curry leaves
  16. 1/4 tsp fenugreek seeds
  17. 1 onion sliced
  18. 1 tsp grated ginger
  19. 1- 2 tbsp tamarind pulp
  20. 1/2 cup water
  21. Salt to taste
  22. For Seasoning
  23. 1.5 tbsp coconut oil
  24. 1/2 tsp mustard seeds
  25. 1 dry red chilli broken
  26. 4-5 shallots chopped

Instructions

  1. Marinate prawns with turmeric, salt and red chilli powder for 45 minutes
  2. Roast ingredients mentioned under ground paste section until shallots turn brown. Allow to cool. Grind to fine paste with water
  3. Heat coconut oil in earthen vessel. Crackle fenugreek seeds. Add curry leaves, ginger and onions. Saute until onions brown
  4. Add ground paste with water, salt, tamarind pulp. Mix well
  5. Add prawns and bring to boil. Simmer and cook until done
  6. Heat coconut oil in seperate pan. splutter mustard seeds, add dry red chilli and shallots. Saute until shallots brown. Add seasoning to prawns. Mix and serve hot with steamed rice
