ABOUT Beetroot Rasam RECIPE

A delightful rasam prepared with kids friendly veggie beetroot flavoured with classic spices. Finish by adding a tsp of ghee to the rasam and serve your kids a pink colour dish for them.

Ingredients Serving: 3

  1. 1/2 cup grated beetroots
  2. 1 tomato, finely chopped
  3. 1/2 cup tamarind extract
  4. 1/2 cup dal stock
  5. 1/2 tsp turmeric powder
  6. 1/2 tsp asafoetida powder
  7. 10 curry leaves
  8. 1 tsp pepper
  9. 1 tsp cumins
  10. 7 garlic cloves
  11. 1 dried red chilly
  12. 1/4 tsp fenugreek
  13. 1/2 tsp mustard urid dal
  14. 1/4 cup coriander leaves
  15. 1 tsp ghee
  16. 2 tbsp oil
  17. salt

Instructions

  1. GRIND 7 GARLIC CLOVES, 1 TSP EACH OF PEPPERCORNS & CUMIN
  2. ADD 2 DRY RED CHILLIES, 1/4 TSP FENUGREEK SEEDS, 1/2 TSP EACH OF MUSTARD & URAD DAL IN 2 TBSP HOT OIL
  3. ADD THE GROUND MASALA, SAUTE
  4. ADD 1 CUP CHOPPED TOMATOES
  5. ADD 10-12 CURRY LEAVES
  6. SAUTE FOR 1-2 MINS
  7. ADD 1/2 CUP GRATED BEETROOT
  8. STIR WELL
  9. ADD 1/2 CUP TAMARIND EXTRACT
  10. ADD 1/2 CUP DAL STOCK
  11. ADD 1/2 TSP TURMERIC POWDER
  12. ADD SALT TO TASTE
  13. BRING TO A BOIL
  14. ADD 1/2 TSP ASAFOETIDA POWDER
  15. ADD 1/4 CUP FRESH CORIANDER
  16. ADD 1 TSP OF GHEE, TAKE OFF HEAT
  17. SERVE HOT
