ABOUT Bhindi do pyaza RECIPE

A combination of ladyfinger with yogurt.

Ingredients Serving: 4

  1. 1/2 kg ladyfinger
  2. 1 cup diced onion
  3. 4 large spoons of thick yogurt
  4. 1/2 tsp of asafoetida
  5. Salt to taste
  6. 6 small green chillies
  7. 2 tsp cumin seeds
  8. 1 cup water
  9. 5 tsp of ghee/refined oil
  10. 2 tsp of coriander powder
  11. 1 tsp turmeric
  12. 1/2 tsp powdered garam masala

Instructions

  1. Wash and drain all the ladyfinger and clean each one of them using a dry cloth. Then cut them into round pieces.
  2. Take a frying pan and add ghee into it. When it becomes hot, add cumin seeds, asafoetida. Then add the diced onion and stir it on a low flame until it changes its color to brown.
  3. Now add turmeric, coriander podwer and mix well. Next, add ladyfinger, finely chopped green chilles and salt. Mix it well.
  4. You can sprinkle 1/4 cup water so as to prevent the dish from burning at the bottom.
  5. Cook this dish until the bhindi changes its color atleast for 10 minutes.
  6. Now add yogurt into it and mix well. Cook on a low flame for another 5 minutes.
  7. Now garnish it with garam masala and serve them with hot parathas.

Will it be a dry or semi gravy dish? Won't d bhindi go slimy if we add water to it??
