ABOUT Multigrain Veg Paniyaram RECIPE

It is south Indian breakfast recipe which is also known as appan/appa. It is also prepared with leftover idli/dosa batter. This recipe is easy and simple and great snack for kids.

Ingredients Serving: 6

  1. 1/2 cup rava/sooji
  2. 1/2 cup rice flour
  3. 1/4 cup besan
  4. 1/4 cup ragi flour
  5. 1 cup curd
  6. Salt to taste
  7. 2 green chilli chopped
  8. 5 curry leaves chopped
  9. 2 tbsp coriander leaves chopped
  10. 1 tbsp onion chopped
  11. 1 tbsp capsicum chopped
  12. 1 tbsp carrots chopped
  13. 1 tbsp green peas/beans
  14. 1/8 tsp pepper powder
  15. 1-2 tbsp oil
  16. 1/4 tap mustard seeds
  17. 2 cube cheese grated
  18. Pinch of a baking soda

Instructions

  1. Firstly in a large mixing bowl combine rava and all flours and curd and 1/2 tsp salt.
  2. Mix well to form paste without forming any lumps. Further add water as required.
  3. Mix well to form thick batter and keep aside for the 10 -15 minutes.
  4. After 15 minutes the batter must have soaked all the water. If the batter is thick then add so more water. Batter should be a pouring consistency.
  5. In a small pan heat 1 tsp oil and add mustard seeds they start Pope add currey leaves and add it to appan mixture and mix well.
  6. Add all chopped vegetables and cheese and mix well.
  7. Further add a pinch of baking soda just before preparing apps and mix well.
  8. Heat paniyaram pan and grease them.
  9. Now fill the 11/2 tbsp batter in each hole and cover and simmer for a minute.
  10. Cook on a low flame until appe gets cooked sightly golden brown.
  11. Flip it to the other side using a spoon and cook for it turns golden brown.
  12. Remove them out in a plate. Serve with tomato sauce or coriander coconut chutney.
