Chana Chhonk

Ingredients to make Chana Chhonk

  • black gram 1 cup soaked overnight and pressure cooked
  • oil 4 tbsp
  • Akkha jeera 1 tsp
  • hing a pinch
  • haldi powder a pinch
  • Garam masala 1 tsp
  • Aamchoor powder 1/2 tsp
  • salt as per taste
  • ginger garlic paste 2 tsp
  • Sliced onions 2 medium-sized
  • Finely chopped tomatoes 2 medium-sized

How to make Chana Chhonk

  1. Soak chana overnight and next morning pressure cook it with salt for 3-4 whistles.
  2. Take a pan, add oil, Jeera, Hing and sliced onions and saute well.
  3. When onions turn translucent add chopped tomatoes and all dry masalas except aamchoor powder and mix well.
  4. Let it cook cook for sometime.
  5. Turn off the gas and add aamchoor powder.
  6. Chhonk chana is ready.

My Tip:

I sliced half onion and chopped 1.5 onions with tomatoes in chopper so that i can get a solid mixture to add with chana.
