About Barnyard Millet Khichidi Recipe

Barnyard Millet, baghar in Hindi or Kuthiraveli in tamil is one of the variety millet. I have made Khichdi with vegetable.

Barnyard Millet Khichidi

Ingredients to make Barnyard Millet Khichidi

  • 1 cup Barnyard millet (washed and then soaked for 15 minutes)
  • 1 cup vegetables, boiled (carrot, Beans, Broccoli, Potato)
  • 1 Onion cut lengthy or spring onions
  • 1 tomato cut
  • 1 Green chilli slit
  • 1/2 inch piece ginger, shredded
  • 1/4 tsp turmeric powder
  • 1/2 tsp dhania powder
  • 1/2 tsp chilli powder
  • curry leaves a few
  • coriander leaves 1/2 bunch
  • 2 tsp oil
  • 1/2 tsp mustard seeds
  • 1 tsp jeera seeds

How to make Barnyard Millet Khichidi

  1. Take a pan, add oil, jeera, curry patta, onions, ginger, green chilli and fry. Add turmeric, tomato and all the vegetables. Keep frying.
  2. Add two cups of water and salt. Let it boil, add the millet. Keep stirring and keep the flame on low. Cover and cook till soft.
  3. Add ghee and serve.

My Tip:

You can avoid the onions.
