About Daal fry Pakoda in Tomato gravy.( Play Off Beat) Recipe

Nopes, not the same leftover daal and Rice again ! So I made Pakoda by adding bread, sooji, gram flour and some masala. Made a Tangy Tomato gravy. I added Pakoda in it and served with seasoned rice. Isn't that an Innovative Twist ?

Ingredients to make Daal fry Pakoda in Tomato gravy.( Play Off Beat)

  • tomatoes 4 ( big)
  • onion chopped 1 big.
  • garlic chopped 6 cloves
  • ginger 1/2 inch piece.( Chopped)
  • Green chilli 1 or 2 ( according to taste)
  • pepper powder 1/2 tsp
  • Roasted kasoori methi 1 tbsp
  • oil 2 tbsp
  • Cheese grated 2 tbsp
  • salt to taste.
  • sugar 2 tbsp
  • Spring onions chopped 2 tbsp
  • Sweet pepper 1 ( yellow)
  • For pakoda
  • Daal fry ( moong daal / mixed daal cooked) 3 tbsp
  • Bread slices 2
  • sooji 2 tbsp
  • carrot grated 2 tbsp
  • onion chopped 1 tbsp
  • gram flour 2 tbsp
  • Minced garlic 1 tbsp
  • ginger grated 1 tsp
  • coriander powder 1 tsp
  • chilli powder 1 tsp
  • Garam masala 1/2 tsp
  • jeera ( whole) 1 tsp
  • turmeric 1/4 tsp
  • coriander leaves finely chopped 1 tbsp
  • salt to taste.
  • oil for frying.

How to make Daal fry Pakoda in Tomato gravy.( Play Off Beat)

  1. To make Pakoda.
  2. Cook daal in Kadhal ( pan ) to thicken.
  3. Cool it. Add bread by soaking and than squeezing out water.
  4. Add both the flours. Add all masala mentioned above.
  5. Make a dough like batter.
  6. Heat oil add fry small pakoras.
  7. Now for making Tomato gravy
  8. Heat 1 tbsp oil in a pan. Add Chopped onions. Saute.
  9. Add garlic, ginger, chilli. Saute on medium high heat.
  10. Remove after 5 minutes.. Cool and blend .
  11. Heat 1 tbsp oil in a same pan. Add Chopped spring onions. Saute a while and add Chopped sweet peppers.
  12. Add pureed Tomatoes. Add Sugar. Cook for 4 to 5 minutes.
  13. Crush kasoori methi between palms and add.
  14. Boil half minute. Now turn off heat . Add grated cheese.
  15. Place Pakoda in serving bowl. Pour Tomato gravy on it. Serve with garnish of coriander leaves.
  16. As I had leftover rice too, I seasoned it and added some onions and capsicum .
  17. So here is an innovative Fusioned combo.

My Tip:

You can make it nonveg by adding chicken Kheema with daal.
