Ingredients to make Prawns in Tomato Gravy

  • To temper prawns:
  • 2 tablespoons butter
  • 15 garlic pods
  • For marination:
  • Pinch of turmeric
  • 1 teaspoon lemon juice
  • salt as per taste
  • For gravy:
  • Little oil (if necessary)
  • 1 medium onion
  • 2 medium tomatoes pureed
  • curry leaves
  • 1 teaspoon red chilli powder
  • 1 teaspoon coriander powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon garam masala
  • salt as per taste
  • coriander leaves

How to make Prawns in Tomato Gravy

  1. Marinate the prawns with little salt, lemon juice and turmeric. Set aside for 15 minutes.
  2. In a pan, add butter. Once it starts to melt, add in finely chopped garlic. Add the marinated prawns. Fry for 5 minutes on each side and set aside.
  3. In the same pan, add little oil (if necessary or else the butter is enough) Heat it. Put some curry leaves. Fry it.
  4. Add finely chopped onions and fry till translucent.
  5. Add in tomato puree. Mix well. Add in red chilli powder, Coriander powder, garam masala and fry till the masalas are cooked well.
  6. Now add the prawns and mix gently. Reduce the gravy as per your choice.
  7. Add Coriander leaves and turn off the flame. Serve hot.

My Tip:

Adjust dry powder as per your choice. Use fresh Prawns.
