About Imli chutney Recipe

a tangy dip can be used alongside chaat, vada, dahi bhalla, nachos or frankies.

Imli chutney

Ingredients to make Imli chutney

  • date 15-20 seedless
  • tamarind 1 cup
  • fennel/saunf 2 tsp
  • jeera 1/2 tsp
  • jaggery/gur 1 /2 cup
  • red chilli powder 1/2 tsp
  • Black salt 1-2 tsp
  • Saunth 1tsp(optional)
  • curry leaves 5-10
  • Black mustard 1 tsp

How to make Imli chutney

  1. De seed dates and chop finely.
  2. Soak tamarind in some water for sometime and make a pulp out of it.
  3. Dry roast jeera and saunf and blend to a powder.
  4. Take a pan add dates tamarind jaggery and some water bring to a boil and stir to make jaggery melt, cook covered for 10 mins.
  5. Add dry ingredients jeera saunf powder, black salt,red chilli and saunth to cooking pan.
  6. Cook for 2 mins, it can be used as it is or blended.
  7. Tempering with curry leaves and black mustard can be done when using with vada or dahi bhalla.
