An evening in native always filled with various homemade snacks and lots of adda accompanied with a cup of tea :coffee:️ Here is an easy recipe of dimer devil rather dimer chop (egg devil ) from every single Bengali's kitchen . It is one of the famous snacks of Kolkata ,You can get it in each and every OoLi GoLi food stalls in the streets of Kolkata.

Ingredients Serving: 2

  1. Boiled eggs -2 pcs
  2. Onion ginger garlic paste-2 table spoon
  3. Chilli paste -1 tea spoon
  4. Galam masala -1 tea spoon
  5. Boiled Potato -2 large size
  6. Cumin powder-1/2 tea spoon
  7. salt and sugar to taste
  8. bread crumbs - 50gm
  9. corn flour -4 tbsp
  10. white oil as per requirement


  1. Take the potatoes, peel them and boil them in a pressure cooker for 5 to 7 mins
  2. Now peel the potatoes and massed them properly Make sure there is no lumps in the mashed potato.
  3. Now heat white oil in a pan, add the onion, ginger garlic, green chilies paste and fry till become light golden in color and release the oil from the top .
  4. Add roasted cumin powder and garam masala powder to the pan and fry it well with some sprinkle of water to prevent the spices getting burn. Add salt and sugar to taste.
  5. Fry for few minutes and then add the mashed potatoes and mix with the masala well .Cook the mixture in low flame for 6 mins minutes, stirring constantly.
  6. After 10 minutes, turn off the flame and let the mixture completely cool down and mash them properly without any lumps on it .
  7. Meanwhile cut the boiled eggs into eaqually half pieces and keep it aside .
  8. For the batter , we need two eggs , corn flour and salt
  9. The batter should be smooth and thick so that it built the coating properly .
  10. Now with mixture of mashed potatoes we pour the half boiled piece of the egg and form an outer coating with it and give a shape of a ball , dip the egg ball in the batter and roll on the breads crumps
  11. Now heat oil in the pan and deep fry until it becomes golden brown , your dimer chop is ready ,you can serve hot with green salad and sauce and ofcouse with a cup of tea
