This recipe is made of Rohu Fish and it’s a Bengali cuisine recipe. Roi Macher Kaliya/Rohu Fish Curry is served with plain hot rice and it is really superb to eat. It’s a simple 2 steps recipe, easy and quick recipe for lunch or dinner.

Ingredients to make Roi Macher Kaliya

  • Rohu fish 3-4 pieces
  • mustard oil 5 tablespoon
  • salt 1/3 +1/3 tablespoon
  • turmeric powder powder 1/2 tablespoon
  • 1 onion paste
  • 1 tablespoon of red chilli powder
  • ginger garlic paste 1/3 tablespoon
  • 1/1 tablespoon of onion seeds/ kalongi
  • cumin powder 1/3 tablespoon
  • coriander powder 1/3 tablespoon
  • water 1 cup
  • coriander leaves

How to make Roi Macher Kaliya

  1. Heat oil in a pan and fry the fishes with salt and turmeric powder
  2. Fry both the sides till golden in colour
  3. Keep the fried fish pieces aside and in the same pan, temper onion seeds in it
  4. Add the onion paste, and ginger garlic paste and sauté for 2 minutes
  5. Then add salt, turmeric powder, cumin coriander powder, Red chilli powder and sauté for 3-4 minutes
  6. When the masalas starts leaving oil, add water and the fried fishes in it
  7. Boil them for 4-5 minutes in medium flame covering with a lid
  8. Let it rest for few minutes and garnish with chopped coriander leaves

Don’t stir the pan evenly urn after u add fishes to out and turmeric oil salt or
