About Katla tel jhaal / Katla Fish in mustard Recipe

My Late Mom taught me this Katla Fish made with mustard paste and drizzled with mustard oil which gives the tangy taste

Katla tel jhaal / Katla Fish in mustard

Ingredients to make Katla tel jhaal / Katla Fish in mustard

  • 2 Katla Fish washed well and smeared with 1/2 tsp turmeric powder and salt
  • 4 Tbsp mustard oil
  • 1 cup water
  • 1 Tbsp mustard paste with water
  • 1/2 tsp black cumin seeds
  • 1 whole green chilli slit
  • salt as per taste

How to make Katla tel jhaal / Katla Fish in mustard

  1. In a wok add 3 Tbsp mustard oil and deep fry the fish pieces and set aside
  2. Add black cumin seeds and when it splutters
  3. Add mustard paste mixed with water and strained on oil
  4. Add fish pieces and stir
  5. Add salt and water
  6. When reached desired consistency drizzle with mustard oil and serve

My Tip:

Black mustard seed gives the best result and not yellow mustard seed
