And he’s back! Karan Johar is back with a new season of his popular TV show ‘Koffee with Karan’. Season 6 of the show will premiere on Star World from 21st October 2018, at 9 pm every Sunday.
Karan has even announced that his first guests on the show will be Deepika Padukone and Alia Bhatt-actor Ranbir Kapoor’s former and present girlfriends respectively (wink, wink).
Over the years, the guests on the show have said a lot of things about each other. We bring to you the 11 most controversial statements that have been made on ‘Koffee with Karan’ till date.

Superstar Salman Khan made his debut on the couch in the 4th season of ‘Koffee with Karan.’ Known to be a ladies man, Salman Khan surprised everyone when he said that he was a virgin, and that he sleeps alone! Hard to believe, right?
Kangana made an appearance on the coffee couch in the 5th season of the show. The actress was accompanied by her ‘Rangoon’ co-stars Saif Ali Khan and Shahid Kapoor. When Karan Johar asked Kangana who has given her “unnecessary attitude” in the industry, Kangana named Karan. She even went on to say that Karan was “the flag-bearer of nepotism.”
This statement eventually led to a war of words between Kangana and Karan. While hosting the IIFA awards in 2017, Saif Ali Khan and Varun Dhawan said “Nepotism rocks”. Both the actors eventually had to apologise for this.
Deepika Padukone and Sonam Kapoor Ahuja made their debut on ‘Koffee with Karan’ in the third season of the show. This episode was one of the most controversial episodes in the history of the chat show. Both the actresses took digs at Ranbir Kapoor. Deepika said that Ranbir “needs to work on his boyfriend skills.” During the rapid fire round, Karan asked Deepika what product should Ranbir Kapoor endorse. The actress said that Ranbir should endorse a condom brand.
Sonam came with her father, Anil Kapoor, in the 4th season of ‘Koffee with Karan’. When Karan asked Sonam if she was bothered about other actresses being talked more about in the acting department, Sonam said that in the film industry, people think that if you are not good-looking, you’ll be a good actor.
Actor Imran Khan also took a dig at Sonam in the 3rd season of the show. The actor said that Sonam should do “less magazine covers and more movies.”
Since they worked together in the movie ‘Aitraaz’, everyone knows that Kareena and Priyanka do not get along at all.
Even Karan Johar’s coffee couch was not spared of the cold war between these two actresses. In Season 3 of the show, Karan asked Kareena that if she were to interview Priyanka, what would she ask her. Kareena said that she would ask Priyanka why she has an accent. In another episode of the same season, Karan asked Priyanka what her reply to this question would be. Priyanka’s response was that she gets the accent from the same place that Kareena’s boyfriend (at that time Saif Ali Khan was Kareena’s boyfriend) gets it from.
However, Priyanka is not the only one whose given Kareena a response like this. In the 4th season of ‘Koffee with Karan’, Karan asked Kareena what Sonakshi Sinha’s profession should be, if she was not an actress. Kareena said that Sonakshi should be a housewife. In another episode of the 4th season, Shahid Kapoor and Sonakshi Sinha came together. Karan asked Sonakshi about what Kareena had said, Sonakshi did not say anything. In fact, at the end of the episode, Shahid Kapoor-Kareena’s ex-boyfriend, said that he thinks there is a lot more that Sonakshi can be than just a housewife.
Known for his wit and his charm, SRK is one of our all-time favourite ‘Koffee with Karan’ guests. In the 2nd season of the show, Karan asked SRK what he would do if he woke up in the morning and realised that he’d turned into Karan Johar. SRK replied to this by saying that the chances of him waking up as Karan Johar were less, but the chances of him waking up ‘with’ Karan Johar in the morning were more! ROFL!!
Karan’s closest friend Twinkle Khanna made her coffee debut in the 5th season of ‘Koffee with Karan.’ Throughout the episode, the actress was pulling Karan’s leg. When Karan asked her that out of the three Khans, who does she consider the coolest, Twinkle said that she’d like to add Fawad Khan to the list and ask the same question to Karan. During the rapid fire round, Karan asked Twinkle what her husband, Akshay Kumar has that the three Khans don’t. Twinkle cheekily replied to this question by saying “a few extra inches,” and this was not in terms of height.
Ranveer Singh made his debut on the coffee couch in Season 3. The actor was accompanied by his ‘Band Baaja Baraat’ co-star Anushka Sharma. Karan asked Ranveer to tell him three things that nobody knows about Ranveer Singh. Ranveer’s response was that he doesn’t wear underwear after 10pm. Anushka was scandalized at this response and she retorted by saying that Karan didn’t ask Ranveer about the three things that “we don’t want to know about you.”
Actor Emraan Hashmi and producer Mahesh Bhatt came together on the 4th season of ‘Koffee with Karan.’ This episode was probably one of the most intelligent and most honest episode in the history of the chat show. During the rapid fire, Karan asked Emraan to tell him the first thing that comes to his mind when he names certain actresses. Karan named Aishwarya Rai Bachchan and Emraan immediately said “plastic”. When Karan named Shraddha Kapoor, Emraan said that Shraddha should probably eat something.
John Abraham appeared on the third season of ‘Koffee with Karan’. During this time, John had just finished working with Abhishek Bachchan in ‘Dostana’. When Karan asked John what he would do if Abhishek Bachchan was the only person left on the planet, John, in a matter-of-fact tone simply said that he’d “do Abhishek.”
Arjun Kapoor made his debut ‘Koffee with Karan’ appearance in the 4th season of the show. Arjun came with his ‘Gunday’ co-star Ranveer Singh. When Karan Johar asked Arjun what he would choose between food and sex, Arjun, referring to the time when he was very fat, said that he’d had a lot of food so he’d definitely choose sex over food.
