Has your mind ever got confused while standing at a shop buying baking soda and you ended up bringing baking powder back home. Sounds strange? But that’s quite a common mistake that anyone can make.

But do you understand the difference between both of them? It’s so difficult to differentiate such look-alike products, especially for people unfamiliar with kitchen and baking. We totally understand your struggle!

Talking about the scientific differences, baking soda includes Sodium bicarbonate which is converted into powder form and is mainly used for baking pancakes, cakes, muffins, bread, etc.

Since sodium bicarbonate is an essential compound, it makes baked products rise when combined with acidic fixing, similar to lemon juice, buttermilk, earthy-colored sugar, or cocoa powder.

On the other hand, baking powder contains sodium bicarbonate and two different ingredients which include a cradle, like cornstarch, and a powder corrosive, like cream of tartar.

While baking soda should be joined with an acidic element for raising power, the baking powder shouldn’t be joined with anything-it that begins filling in when it’s blended.
