Home / Home Remedies / Hair Care Tips for the Summer Season
During the summers, we always take care of our skin. Be it face packs, different types of homemade ‘ubtans’ or creams, our first priority is always our face. However, this focus on our face inevitably causes us to ignore our hair during the summers. We think that our hair will remain the way it is during this season. The innumerable advertisements for hair care products on the television further confuse us about what hair products to use and what hair products not to use. We are unable to understand if we should listen to Anushka Sharma or to Aishwarya Rai Bachchan!
But forget all these advertisements! BetterButter brings to you some easy ways in which you can take care of your hair during the summers.

Just like you cover your face before stepping outside, cover your hair as well. The sun’s rays damage your hair by making them dry and lifeless. Cover your hair with a scarf or a hat, which not only protects your hair from the harmful effects of the sun but also helps in retaining the moisture present in the hair.
Excessive washing of hair depletes the natural oils that are present in the hair. Owing to this, there is a build-up of oil on the scalp, which consequently makes it imperative to wash your hair regularly.
We think that oiling hair in the summers will increase the sweat present in the hair, but actually oiling hair becomes all the more important in the summers because, during this season, hair tends to lose its moisture. Olive oil, almond oil, and coconut oil are extremely beneficial for your hair. Oiling your hair a few hours before washing it, is very important. Whenever you feel there is less moisture in your hair, make a pack using avocados, oil and aloe vera juice. Apply this mixture to your hair and then wash it off to keep hair dryness at bay.
Making a high pony, bun or plait during the summers not only gives you a neat look but also ensures that less sweat is generated in your hair. Do not comb wet hair and make it a point to get your hair regularly trimmed at the salon. Instead of using a brush, use a wide-toothed comb to untangle your hair. Only use a blow dryer and/or a flat iron only when necessary as these make the hair dry.
Always use a conditioner after shampooing your hair. You can use water and apple cider vinegar to make your own natural conditioner at home. Shea butter oil and coconut oil can also be used as conditioners.
Washing hair with herbal tea is a great way to take care of your hair during the summer season. If your hair is brown and you want to keep them that way, then wash your hair with black tea. For red hair, wash your hair with red ginger tea. But keep in mind to only use cold tea to wash your hair. Washing hair with hot tea will damage your hair.
