How Should you Curb your Husband’s Phone Addiction?

‘Dear Husband,

You lost this chance too like every other day. Our daughter wanted to show you her new doll, but you were too busy with your phone. I understand your phone distracts you after a stressed day at work and maybe makes you feel fresh but little do you realize that as you scroll down your phone, you are losing out on your personal life.’

We are sure many of you must be facing this issue,  either because of your wife or your husband. Here are 5 things that can help you curb your spouse’s phone addiction:

1) Small Rule for a Big Solution

The entire day, both you and your partner are engrossed in work and have no time for each other.  Post-work,  you just start scrolling through your phones. Make a rule of ‘No Phones’ during dinner. Make sure everyone keeps their phones aside during meals and speaks to each other. Spending time together is the most important part of a family!

2) Go Outside more Often

You should step out more often, be it for dinner, a walk, a cup of coffee or just to meet your friends and relatives. Going out gives you more time to interact with each other and your family.

3) Communication

It is very important for you to communicate your problems to your partner. We all want a relationship where the other person understands us and gives us what we want without having to say it. If your partner’s phone habits are affecting you, then talking about it is the best solution. Don’t say ‘I hate this habit’, say you feel neglected. Choosing the right words is very important.

4) Compromise

Talk it out and make a compromise. Spend a certain time of the day on your phones (that you’ve decided on together) and follow this simultaneously so that no one feels left out.

5) Try to Like what He Likes

Marriage is about compromising and adapting to each other’s likes and dislikes. If your husband likes some sport such as cricket or badminton, try and play that sport with him as you will get the opportunity to spend more time with him. Watch a movie he likes, go to a place he likes to visit and spend some quality time together.
