2) Stay Away from Tourist Spots

If you are completely flexible with the location of your stay,  then you needn’t go for a hotel that is located in the heart of the city. Opt for a hotel located on the outskirts of a city. By doing so, you could spend the whole day exploring the city and then  return to the hotel at the end of the day.  This would result in huge cost-savings for you.

3) Stay as a Paying Guest

Rather than spending a fortune to stay at a lavish hotel, stay at a local bed and breakfast place or share an apartment with another traveler. Not only will this help you immerse yourself in local culture and cuisine, but it will also help you considerably reduce your travel costs.

4) Cook your Own Food

Most airlines and hotel chains provide reward points and loyalty points for the number of days you stay with them and the flights that you take them. You can also avail certain other perks of staying in these hotels such as a free pick-up and drop service, free breakfast and a free guide. Make sure you grab these benefits.

6) Use Maps and a Guide

Rather than opting for a local guide and paying him to take you to places, make the best use of all those maps and guidebooks. Reading them to visit places on your own will help you connect to the place you are visiting and will also help you save money.

7) Don’t Choose Seasonal Dates

Unless there are some extravagant happenings like festivals or a shopping carnival, ensure do not book your tickets during the holiday seasons. It is during the holiday season that hotel fares and air fares peak. However,  if you want to travel during peak season, make your bookings well in advance to get the best price.
