1) Ramola Sikand of Kaahin Kissii Roz played by Sudha Chandran

Ramola Sikand’s character was that of a scheming mother in law who plans to kill her daughter in law. Later in the serial it was revealed that she was the step mother of the main male protagonist. The character also set the trend for twisted bindis. Ramola challenged makeup conventions, and opted for shades of purple.

2) Uttara Devi of JiJi maa played by Pallavi pradhan

Utter Devi is a very strong personality. She has a one-point agenda of making life hell for her daughters in law, and goes to any lengths for that.  She is aggressive, revengeful and an arrogant lady. Matriarch Kalyani Devi, better known as Dadisaa, created a deep impact with her role. The character of Dadisaa ruled the hearts of the viewers as long as the serial lasted. Seasoned actress Surekha Sikri essayed the role wonderfully.

4) Suhasini Goenka of Yeh Rishta kya kehlata hai played by Smriti Chitnis

Suhasini Goenka is opinionated,greatly interfering and insensitive. Suhasini Goenka’s greatest fear is to lose her grandson Kartik. Sweet on the outside but cunning inside, she never approved of her grand daughter in law Naira. Her staunch, orthodox beliefs always find fault with Naira.

5) Savita Damodar Deshmukh of Pavitra Rishta played by Usha Nadkarni

Savita is the quintessential chawl woman who fights with her neighbours for petty things like the queue for water, laundry. Savita feels betrayed by Archana-whom she thinks to be responsible for spoiling the fate of the Deshmukh household. She falsely accuses her for the death of her younger son Sachin and also for the distancing relations with her only surviving son-Manav. Usha Nadkarni won the award for the “Best Evil Mother-In-Law” for her role in Pavitra Rishta

6)Niharika kapoor of Bade Achhe Lagte Hain played by Eva Grover

Ram Kapoor’s step mom in Bade Achhe Lagte Hain and Priya’s mom in law. The character was super manipulative and she looked extremely glamorous in her sarees. Niharika along with her own son and brother plots against Priya to keep Ram and Priya apart. Niharika tricked her husband into marrying her as she had her eyes on his wealth.
