Friendships and relationships are not given much importance in the film industry. To maintain their ‘numero uno’ position in an industry that is always changing and due to the introduction of new talent, many actors and actresses do tend to feel jealous of each other. Sometimes, these feelings of envy become so pronounced, that they transform into full-fledged verbal fights. Verbal fights, that stun the entire country and drastically alter the image that people have in mind about their favourite actors or actresses.
These fights are not only limited to beating the competition, but sometimes also end up delving and bringing to fore some extremely private things about the people involved. Let’s take a look at some of the catfights that shocked the film fraternity and the fans alike.
The catfight between Aishwarya and Sonam started when a famous cosmetics brand replaced Aishwarya and made Sonam their brand ambassador. When news about this replacement broke, Aishwarya refused to walk the red carpet with Sonam at an event. Miffed with this, Sonam said that “Aishwarya is an Aunty, ” which made the situation even worse.
The cold war between Katrina and Priyanka started when they were both asked to participate in an award function. Both the actresses wanted to be the showstopper for that particular event. Priyanka eventually stepped back and Katrina became the showstopper for the event. When asked about this, Katrina said that she was the first and the last choice for the showstopper of that event. After this fight, Katrina Kaif and Priyanka Chopra have never been seen together.
In the film, ‘Andaz Apna Apna,’ both Karishma and Raveena were seen to be the best of friends. However, in reality, no such friendship existed between these two actresses. Both the actresses did not like each other at all. Choreographer Farah Khan confirmed this in an interview where she said that while she was shooting a song with both Karishma and Raveena, both the actresses made a lot of fun of each other.
Rani Mukherji and Aishwarya Rai Bachchan never shared a good equation with each other. The reason for this was Abhishek Bachchan. When Abhishek and Rani worked together in ‘Bunty Aur Babli,’ rumor mills were abuzz with the news that something was going on between the two actors. Aishwarya was not able to tolerate these rumors. In fact, it is alleged that Aishwarya was in talks to do the film, but eventually, the film went to Rani. Despite being extremely close to the Bachchan family, Rani was not even invited to Aishwarya and Abhishek’s wedding.
Juhi and Madhuri were the most popular actresses of the 90s. Both these powerhouse performers worked together in the movie ‘Gulab Gang’. When asked why she hadn’t worked with Madhuri earlier, Juhi said that she did get many opportunities to work with Madhuri but she always refused those films. She justified her response by saying that the reason she did so was that she knew that people would end up comparing both her and Madhuri, and she personally would not like this comparison.
There was a time when Sonam and Deepika used to be really good friends. But because of the competition in the industry, both these actresses eventually became ‘frenemies.’ Ranbir Kapoor left Sonam for Deepika, and this also did not sit very well with Sonam.
The fight between Chitrangada and Poonam started when Poonam publicly said that she would take off all her clothes if India won the Cricket World Cup. After Poonam’s proclamation, Chitrangada said that Poonam can even take off her clothes if India wins a Kabaddi Match, no one will say no to her. These statements eventually catapulted into a full-fledged fight on Twitter between Chitrangada and Poonam.
