The Most Popular Vamps on TV!

Thanks to Ekta Kapoor, TV serials have become one of the favorite pastimes of most Indian women. The moment their favorite serial starts playing on TV, they get glued to their sets and they go on to experience all the emotions portrayed in the serial. No Hindi TV serial is complete without a vamp. Here are the 8 most popular vamps of Hindi serials: 

1) Urvashi Dholakia

Urvashi is known for her role as Komolika Basu in ‘Kasautii Zindagii Ki’. Indian daily soaps started the genre of vamps and the character of ‘Komalika’ has been a milestone. Urvashi had taken the audience by surprise with her style and her attitude. She also played the evil character of Queen Iravati in the television series ‘Chandrakanta’.  

 

2) Jaya Bhattacharya

Jaya is known for playing antagonistic roles in TV serials. Best known for playing Payal in ‘Kyunki Saas Bhi Kabhi Bahu Thi’, she also played roles in ‘Kasamh Se’, ‘Jhansi Ki Rani’ and ‘Gangaa’. She regained popularity with her role of Vasundhara Pandey in drama series ‘Thapki Pyar Ki’. Currently she is seen in ‘Silsila Badalte Rishton Ka’ (2018–present). Jaya has also acted in movies like ‘Devdas’ and ‘Lajja’.

 

3) Ashwini Kalsekar

Ashwini is famous for playing negative roles on television. Some of her popular roles include Jigyasa Walia in ‘Kasamh Se’,  Pam Khanna in Ekta Kapoor’s soap opera ‘Itna Karo Na Mujhe Pyaar’ and Maham Anga (a foster mother of Emperor Akbar) in the historical drama series ‘Jodha Akbar’. Her roles have been critically acclaimed and she has received many awards and accolades.

 

4) Kamya Punjabi

Kamya Punjabi has played antagonistic roles in ‘Astitva…Ek Prem Kahani’, ‘Banoo Mein Teri Dulhann’ as Sindoora Singh, ‘Woh Rehne Waali Mehlon Ki’, and ‘Amber Dhara’ to name a few. She has also won awards for her performances. From negative roles to stand up comedies, Kamya has showcased her talent across genres.

 

5) Sudha Chandran

Sudha’s journey is inspiring since she lost a leg in a car accident but that didn’t stop her from making a successful career as a dancer, movie actor and a television actor. She is known for her negative roles as Ramola Sikand in ‘Kahin Kissii Roz’, Yamini in ‘Naagin’, and Vasundhara Malik in ‘Tumhari Disha’.

 

6) Anita Hassanandani

Known for her character Shagun in ‘Yeh Hai Mohabbatein’, Anita Hassanandani is one of the most stylish vamps on TV. The audiences really like her character, her dressing style and hair do’s in the serial which has been running on Star Plus since 2013. She won the award for the Best Actress in a Negative Role at the Zee Gold Awards in 2014 and Indian Television Academy Awards in 2015 and she also won the award for the Most Stylish Vamp at the Television Style Awards in 2015.

 

7) Anjali Anand

Anjali Anand is best remembered for her role as Loveleen Sikandar Singh Gill in ‘Kulfi Kumar Bajewala’. She plays the antagonist who doesn’t want a daughter to unite with her father to secure her and her daughter’s future.

 

8) Pallavi Pradhan

Pallavi Pradhan plays the role of Uttara Devi, who is the main antagonist of the show ‘Jiji Ma’ on Star Bharat. Her constant plotting against Suyash and Falguni has fetched her the award for the Best Actor in a Negative role at the Gold Awards in 2018.
