Obesity is a growing concern all over the world. This medical condition means that your body consists of a greater amount of fats than required. A greater accumulation of fats increases the risk of a number of diseases like stroke, diabetes, blood pressure and a few more. Obesity can also affect longevity and make matters worse if you don’t take proper care of it at the right time.
According to reports and data released by WHO, a total of about 650 million people are now facing the problem of obesity. Many health experts are of the opinion that it is only a healthy lifestyle that can reduce the risk of obesity. Other than this, it is very important that one performs physical activities to burn out the fats. Recently, the American Journal of Clinical Nutrition released a report that it is not overeating but the quality of food that affects weight gain. In today’s time, most of us are inclined towards eating junk and processed foods that are high in glycemic index and loaded with carbohydrates. And health experts reveal that it is this unhealthy diet pattern that is the primary cause of obesity or weight gain.
So, Dr David Ludwig who is the endocrinologist at Boston Children’s Hospital and also the professor at Harvard Medical School suggests: “Reducing consumption of the rapidly digestible carbohydrates that flooded the food supply during the low-fat diet era lessens the underlying drive to store body fat. As a result, people may lose weight with less hunger and struggle.” However, research is still being conducted to provide conclusive data about this.
