5 Foods that can help to Lower Cholesterol!

The human body produces cholesterol naturally, which is used to build new cells, to digest food, to produce different hormones and also to make vitamin D. It is of two types – good cholesterol or HDL and Low density lipoprotein or bad cholesterol.

Bad cholesterol, also called LDL, can cause various types of heart diseases and eventually even heart attack. LDL in the body increases due to unhealthy eating habits, diabetes, liver or kidney disease or an under active thyroid gland. With the advice of the doctor, medication helps in reducing LDL. Exercising, reducing weight and eating certain foods regularly can also help you reduce your cholesterol levels. Let’s see what are these foods stuffs-


1) Beans or Legumes

Beans such as kidney beans, peas, and lentils can help to lower cholesterol. Use beans instead of refined flour or white rice and meat. The fiber, minerals and plant proteins found in them help a lot in lowering the level of LDL. Eat at least half a cup of legumes in a day. It is important not to cook these beans in excess oil or ghee or excessive salt. There are many varieties of beans so you can have many choices according to your taste.


2) Garlic

Garlic has long been regarded as a miracle drug. Garlic reduces blood pressure and has the unique ability to control LDL and triglycerides upon regular consumption. Old garlic is considered to be more potent. Swallow roughly two to three crushed raw garlic cloves with water or take 300 mg of garlic tablets daily, it will help you keep your cholesterol levels low.


3) Oats and Barley

Refined flour is particularly bad for health, especially in case of high cholesterol and obesity. Instead of eating items made of white flour, use flour made of whole grains, even for burgers, bread, pasta and snacks.

Research proves that diet that has whole grains three times a day can reduce the risk of cardiovascular disease by up to twenty percent. The more you eat it, the more you will benefit. LDL cholesterol can be reduced by up to seven percent by eating a bowl of porridge with barley or whole wheat. Do not add any type of fat.


4) Different Types of Vegetables

We all know the qualities of fruits but vegetables like carrots, peas, green beans, potatoes, and eggplants are filled with soluble fiber, as well as nutritional reserves. Green beans and peas are legumes, so you get double benefits. Most vegetables are very low in calories, so they also help reduce weight. You can eat them raw, fried or steamed and they can miraculously help to lower your cholesterol.


5) Dark Chocolate

Dark Chocolate has 75% Cocoa that helps in reducing LDL and blood pressure in the body. By eating it, your sweet craving ends and also there is a lot of help in reducing your cholesterol.

It is very important to reduce cholesterol for good health. Our suggestion is that before using medicines, try to keep fit by the consumption of the above foodstuffs.
