Upon the arrival of summers in Northern India, a few things come automatically like freebies. The power cuts from day to night cause sweat and heat rashes on the body, due to sun exposure. Heat rashes are small red bumps that generally affect us in the summer season. When the drops of sweat trickle on the heat rashes, it can cause even more itching.
But the good news is that you can get rid of heat rashes using some simple home remedies-
1) Oatmeal Bath
If you are suffering from heat rashes then you can you use oatmeal. Oatmeal exfoliates the skin and opens the pores of the skin. Take 1-2 cups of Oats grain or flour and mix it into your bath water. If you wish you may also rub the oats gently on the rashes. But make sure you do not peel your skin.
2) Raw Potatoes
Raw potatoes cool the skin and provide relief from heat rashes. So if you are worried about heat rashes, then take a few thin slices of raw potatoes and apply them to the rashes. Gently rub the slices of potatoes on the rashes with light hands or leave them out for a few minutes. After that use rose water or plain water to clean it.
3) Gram Flour
Application of the gram flour paste on heat rashes cools the skin and provides relief from the pricking and itching. To make the paste, add two tablespoons of gram flour in a cup of water. Instead of plain water, rose water will be more beneficial. Make sure you leave the paste for 15 minutes on the rashes and then clean them.
4) Ice Cubes
The use of ice in summers doesn’t just quench your thirst but can also be used treat heat rashes. Wrap the ice cubes in a clean and soft cloth and apply it on the rashes. When the ice cubes melt, wipe the rash with the same piece of cloth. This will not only cool the body but also relieve you from the sting of the heat rashes.
5) Fuller’s Earth (Multani Mitti)
Fuller’s earth has been used as a cooling pack since ancient times. It also helps in opening the pores of the skin. To make the paste add three to four tablespoons of fuller’s earth in a bowl and add rose water to thicken it. Start by applying daily, then shift to applying every alternate day for a week. Its regular use will eliminate all the heat rashes.
