Lung cancer can happen to anyone irrespective of their smoking habits. This is due to the improper balance of a very basic requisite in your system-cells. When the cells’ normal functionality is disturbed, they end up as  a tumor. Lung cancer is very dangerous and a person diagnosed with it, mostly stays alive for just five years on an average. So one must never ignore the early signs of lung cancer-

1) A Persistent Cough

A simple yet fatal symptom if overlooked. When you cough, it is usually related to respiratory allergies or due to external environmental factors. But a prolonged cough lasting for two weeks or more, irrespective of whether it is dry or with mucus, can be related to cancer and requires immediate attention.

2) Breathing Trouble

You might face shortness of breath due to many reasons like infected lungs, respiratory issues, fluids in carcinoma etc. But you should not overlook this problem as this can be a clear indication of lung cancer in its early stage.

3) Changes in Skin Colour

Your skin will show you the early signs of lung cancer  and you should not overlook these. An inflammatory disease which is red or light violet in color might occur equally on both sides of your shoulders or hip region. Additionally, you might also find skin discoloration under eyes, arms, hands, and legs. Though this might be due to any type of cancer, it is mostly related to lung cancer and requires immediate attention.

4) An Ache in Bones

When the cancer cells from the lungs travel to your bones,  it increases the pressure and triggers a severe pain in your bones. If you are constantly experiencing pain in your bones, and if it increases during the night, then it might be due to lung cancer.

5) Bleeding

Internal or external bleeding might be associated with lung cancer as well. Infected lungs will find it difficult to breathe and will accumulate fluids around it. Leukemia will cause the lungs to pump oxygen and you might end up with bruises and bleeding. So if you find blood in a cough or in urine or stool without any proper reason associated with it, you must contact your doctor for an explanation.
