5 Traditional Sarees that Every Woman Must Have!

India is considered to be a country of diversity. This diversity can be seen in the lifestyle of the people, be it their food habits or their clothes. The saree is a very famous traditional attire of India. The practice of wearing a saree in India is very common among married women. For any religious ceremony, festival or a marriage party, where the demand of the moment is traditional clothes, the saree is the first preference for Indian women. Along with being traditional, sarees also give a very stylish look.

Every state in India has its own distinct traditional clothes,  that they wear on traditional occasions. In the same way, there are different types of traditional sarees that are easy to wear and are stylish too.

Today we will discuss some traditional sarees that we can wear on any family function.

1) Banarasi Saree

Banarasi saree is the most famous saree worn by the people of North India. The saree originated in the holy city of Varanasi, which was earlier known as Banaras, in Uttar Pradesh. This saree is famous for the ornamental embroidery that is done on it using gold, silver, zari, and silk. You can wear this saree on a special occasion like a wedding. This saree is a bit heavy to wear, so it is very difficult to wear it casually on a normal day.


2) Kanjeevaram Saree

Kanjeevaram silk is a type of silk that is mostly found in Tamil Nadu. Kancheepuram district of Tamil Nadu is famous for its master weavers,  who create this special saree. Kanjeevaram sarees are quite famous in South India. Women of Tamil Nadu wear this saree at weddings or on some very special occasion because this saree gives a very majestic and elegant look.


3) Paithani Saree

The Paithani Saree is a famous silk saree of Maharashtra which is named after the town Paithan in Aurangabad, Maharashtra. This saree is made of silk or zari and has a peacock design on its pallu. This saree is mostly available in dark shades. Nowadays,  the design of this saree is changing, in order to give it more modern and contemporary look. You can wear this saree on any traditional occasions. A nose ring goes well with this saree. Be sure to accessorize this saree with some beautiful traditional jewelry. 


4) Patola Saree

The Patola saree is a famous saree from Gujarat. The saree is crafted by the specialized weavers of Gujarat. The saree has four famous designs that are made keeping in mind the choice of customers. In general, a picture of a parrot, flower, elephant or peacock is embedded in the saree. Maharashtrian Brahmins use this saree during their wedding ceremony. You can drape this saree in different ways and get a new, unique look each time. Silver jewelry goes very well with this saree.


5) Chanderi Saree

Chanderi saree is generally made of silk or cotton and is made in Madhya Pradesh. Traditionally, this saree used to be designed with a coin, peacock, block, flower etc., but now the saree is being customized according to the people who wear it. This saree gives you a simple and an elegant look. You can wear this saree on any occasion. This saree is very comfortable and very easy to wear. Delicate jewelry goes very well with this kind of a saree.
