The mild acids present in apple cider vinegar help soothe the dead skin making it easy to exfoliate. Exfoliation helps the healthy skin underneath. All you need is a basin, warm water, and apple cider vinegar.
How to use – Fill the basin with 3-4 cups of warm water, 1 cup apple cider vinegar and soak your feet in it for about 15 minutes before exfoliating. For best results repeat the procedure on an alternate day.
The fats present in the hydrogenated vegetable oil nourish the skin and heal cracked feet.
How to use-Wash your feet and dry them with the help of a towel. Apply about 2 tablespoons of vegetable oil on the cracked feet in such a manner that the oil gets absorbed in the cracks after that wear a pair of socks overnight and wash your feet the next morning.
Baking soda is a very commonly used exfoliant which helps remove dead cells and it also has anti-inflammatory properties.
How to use – Fill a bucket with 2/3rd warm water and add 3 tablespoons of baking soda. Mix it until the baking soda dissolves in the water. Soak your feet in this water for a period of 10 to 15 minutes. After that remove your feet and scrub them gently with a pumice stone. Repeat the procedure every week for better results.
Rice flour can be used as a homemade exfoliating scrub. It purifies the skin making it smooth and soft.
How to use-Take 2 to 3 tablespoons of rice flour, a few drops of vinegar and honey in a bowl and mix them to make a thick paste. Soak your feet in warm water for 10 to 15 minutes and scrub your feet with the paste to remove the dead cells. Repeat the process two to three times a week for smooth feet.
Soaking your feet in Listerine will soften the hard dead skin. Listerine also acts as an antiseptic and soothes the skin because of the phytochemicals like menthol and thymol that are present in it.
How to use- Mix one cup of Listerine, 2 cups of white vinegar and 2 cups of water together and soak your feet in it for 10-15 minutes. Scrub your feet with a pumice stone to wear off the dead skin. Rinse with clean water, pat dry and moisturize it.
