An individual needs stamina for everything that they do, be it running house errands or working at the office. Stamina is the ability to sustain a physical or mental activity for a long time. A high stamina enables one to be able to do the activity for a longer period of time. So, if you find yourself tiring out completely by the end of the day and generally facing an energy crisis lately, then it may be time to boost your stamina.

Here are some natural ways that can help improve your stamina-

1. Hydrate

Muscle fatigue can be a common result of dehydration. Under-hydrated muscles mean under-performance. It is therefore important to be well-hydrated throughout the day as water helps fight muscle fatigue, increasing stamina. Ensure that you do not replace water with caffeinated drinks.

2. Eat well

Food is the source of all energy that we have. Therefore, eating a balanced diet and eating small meals throughout the day is important to ensure that there is a continuous supply of fuel to energize our bodies. Ideally, breakfast should consist of whole breads, oatmeal and eggs. Snack on fruits, vegetables, seeds and nuts and keep the dinner light.

3. Exercise regularly

Make way for regular exercise in your schedule. Though, tiring initially, exercise helps increase stamina and energy levels in the long run. Experts recommend at least 150 minutes of moderate cardiovascular workout complemented with two strength training 30-minute sessions a week. The moderate workout can be replaced with 75 minutes of high intensity workout.

4. Sleep

Bad sleep habits seep an individual of all the energy that they have. A good night’s rest of 7-8 hours per night is crucial to keep one focused, energized, and rejuvenated for the next day. A good rest ensures that the body is able to rest physically as well as mentally and is prepared to face the next day with all the vigor needed.

5. Take salt, but not too much

Too much of salt leads to fat accumulation and water retention, making one feel lethargic. On the other hand, too little salt means lack of sodium which tires out the muscles easily leading to dizziness and low energy levels. Avoid uncooked salt like that sprinkled on salads and that coming from processed foods like chips, canned or frozen foods, prepared soups, etc.

6. Take magnesium

Magnesium converts glucose into energy giving an individual an immediate boost of energy. Therefore to increase stamina, one must include magnesium in their daily diet. Good sources of magnesium include fish, soybeans, nuts, seeds, dark chocolate and bananas.

7. Maintain the ideal weight

Maintaining the ideal weight as per your height is essential. Being underweight or overweight may wreck your stamina. In both the conditions, seek medical intervention to boost stamina.

Note: If in spite of making all these changes in your lifestyle, your stamina does not increase, then there might be an underlying condition that a doctor needs to investigate.
