Dr. Shikha Sharma says these Foods help to Burn Fat!

The present lifestyle with unhealthy eating habits has made everyone fret. With improper dieting, unwanted body fat, junk food and sleeping disorders, there seems no way for improvement in burning fat in order to gain that perfect figure.

As per dietitians, fat in itself is of two types- the good and the bad fat. When you blindly eliminate the good fat, it tends to make your cell walls brittle and rigid. This will never allow the needed proteins to reach your cells. So knowing the difference between which kind of food to have and which ones to avoid is a must.

“There are many medicines available to burn extra fat. But one easy way out is drinking a glass of hot water daily by adding 4 to 6 drops of lemon juice along with a piece of ginger to it”  – says one of the country’s top nutritionists, Dr. Shikha Sharma.

Let’s quickly get to know some of the other food items that will help you burn unwanted body fat with ease-


1) Flaxseeds

Flax seeds have to be consumed in granules rather than in seeds. This fiber-rich food helps in reducing a lot of weight quite easily without much pain! Consume the powdered form by mixing it with buttermilk, salads, rice or any other food of your choice.  Lignens, a substance present in flax seeds,  helps in burning fat and keeps you slim.


2) Cinnamon

Another effective ingredient to help you burn fat is cinnamon. Add a pinch of cinnamon into your everyday beverages such as tea or coffee or simply add it to a glass of warm water with honey and have it daily. This regulates your blood sugar levels and reduces high cholesterol.


3) Brown Rice

Chromium is a mineral that helps in fat burning and brown rice is rich in chromium. “You can have chromium capsules or can choose to eat brown rice instead of white rice and see the difference”, adds Wellness Expert Dr. Shikha Sharma. Brown rice naturally controls the blood sugar levels and reduces unwanted fat from being stored in your body.


4) Salmon

Seafood is always risk-free and good to go with when it comes to fat burning options. Salmon is rich in essential fatty acids that are required to burn the extra unwanted body fat. Besides this, salmon also helps in reducing insulin resistance and regulates your blood sugar levels by eliminating cholesterol.


5) Eggs

Whole eggs are rich in iron, calcium, Omega 3 fatty acids, folate and B6, 12 and vitamin K. This makes them a healthier option for breakfast when compared to other carbs. Research has also proven that those who eat eggs every morning burn belly fat much faster,  when compared to other types of diets.


6) Blueberries

Blueberries are an excellent source of  fat burning substances. This not only cures diabetes but also helps in reducing excess body fat. Adding these to yogurt, cereals or eating them directly every day will show the required results.

Other fat burning fruits include: 

  • Avocado
  • Bananas
  • Apples
  • Pomegranates
  • Lemon
  • Pears


7) Nuts

Nuts are always a healthy option to snack on if you are hungry amidst meals. Nuts are filled with omega 3 fatty acids and help a lot in burning excess fat. Nuts are very filling and they help improve your brain functions. They also help you to avoid binge eating. Nuts like walnut, brazil nut, almonds and pistachios also help to burn fat.
