Keep your Liver Healthy by Eating these Foods!

Due to a fast paced lifestyle and improper diet, liver related diseases have become common in every age group these days. Diseases like liver cirrhosis, jaundice and hepatitis can be particularly fatal at any age. In case of liver issues, precaution is much better than cure.  It is also true that maintaining the liver is a very easy task. All that is required for this is a systematic lifestyle and a nutritious diet. There are many such foods which have the ability to naturally clean the liver and help the liver work in an optimum manner by flushing out toxic substances. Let’s discuss all those foods that can keep the liver healthy-

 

1) Garlic

Consuming six to seven cloves of garlic every day helps to keep the liver healthy. Garlic has the quality to activate the liver enzymes and release the toxins from the body. Two substances called Allicin and Selenium found in garlic, play an effective role in cleansing the liver.

 

2) Carrot and Beetroot

Flavonoids and beta-carotene, found in both these vegetables make the liver healthy and active, and they also help repair the liver cells so that they can function properly.

 

3) Apple

The antioxidants present in  apples strengthen the liver. The element called pectin, which is found in apples, purifies the body and has been found to be very important in removing toxic substances from the digestive tract.

 

4) Green Tea

Two to three cups of green tea, which is full of antioxidants, a day is very beneficial for the liver. Antioxidants remove free radicals from the liver and help in cleansing the liver. Green tea flushes out fat and toxins accumulated in the body and also prevents fatty liver from occurring.

 

5) Green Vegetables

Leafy vegetables such as mustard greens, spinach, etc. which are helpful in cleaning the blood, are also considered to be the best diet to cleanse the liver as well. They can be eaten raw or juiced. They flush out toxic elements from the liver, the green element present in it, which is called chlorophyll, also removes the side effects of hazardous chemicals and pesticides from the liver.

 

6) Lemon

Drinking a big glass of lukewarm water on an empty stomach in the morning, helps to cleanse the liver and improve digestion. Lemon activates the liver cells, which helps in the process of its detoxification. Vitamin C, found in lemon, not only helps increase the enzymes required for digestion, but it is also particularly helpful in digesting various minerals properly.

 

7) Turmeric

A miraculous food, turmeric works surprisingly well to repair the damaged cells of the liver. The use of turmeric in food is also important because it has the amazing ability to remove toxins along with the healing properties of antioxidants. It mainly removes the toxins called carcinogens from the body. Another benefit is that it increases the ability to digest body fat.

Keeping all this in mind, it is also very important to minimize stress because stress is also an enemy of the liver. Regular self-care and  exercise will go a long way in keeping your liver healthy!
