5 Hacks for Working Moms to Save Time!

Priyanka Verma | November 5, 2018

Being a mom can be really exhausting at times, especially when you have a full-time job and need to take care of the household chores as well. It is a tough task to balance your personal life with your work life,  while you also want to be the best mom to your child. After coming back from work, you only have a few hours and in this duration, you need to cook dinner, make preparations for the next day and spend time with your lil one!

Given the numerous responsibilities you have, you can’t spend your time without planning.

So, here are 5 life-saving hacks for working moms that will help save a lot of time:

1) Plan a Week’s Menu in Advance

It will just take a mere 5 minutes to plan a week’s menu in advance since it will save you a lot of time deciding on what to make every evening. You can decide on a mutually-agreed menu with your child and your husband so that nobody makes a face later! Once the menu is decided, just get your shopping list ready, get all the required supplies over the weekend and you’re sorted!

2) Get Kids to help you in the Kitchen

It does take some time to cook  dinner and that’s the time when your child is most active. By the time you finish cooking and finish dinner, it’s time to sleep! So the best way to spend time with your child every evening is to make your child help you in the kitchen. Make them do 1-2 chores, like laying the table and cleaning the slab. If there’s more time at your disposal, just make him/her sit in the kitchen and revise for the upcoming test or just read a book, so you don’t feel guilty and do not have to monitor their activities while you’re in the kitchen.

3) Prepare a Quick Meal

Once in awhile just prepare an easy dinner which doesn’t require much cooking. It will save the day for when you’re tired or when you need to take care of other errands on a particular day. You could make a super-quick grilled sandwich, tortilla pizza, pulao, and Maggi Pazzta.

4) Roast and Freeze Basic Onion Tomato Masala in Advance

Most Indian dishes require a basic onion tomato masala as a base. This masala is used to prepare most of the gravy and dry vegetables so whenever you have time, just roast this masala for the entire week in advance and freeze it. Now whenever you need to cook dinner, just take out the required quantity of masala and your dish will not take more than 10 minutes to get prepared. This masala is your savior even when unexpected guests come over!

5) Plan Activities in the Same Area

There are so many errands over the weekend and often parents feel that they have very less time to spend with their kids. Instead of feeling guilty, just plan your day in such a way that you can get to spend maximum time with your children. If you need to take your child to a museum and do some shopping, plan it in the same area. So while your husband or you take the kids  to the museum or for a movie, the other parent can finish the shopping and then you can all have a quiet lunch together.
