Getting a good night’s sleep is very important for overall health. Getting a restful night’s sleep is just a matter of adding few things to your grocery list.

Here are 5 easily available food  that will help you sleep like a baby.

1. Almonds:

A handful of these will have you sleeping like a baby. Almonds are a rich source of melatonin, a sleep regulating hormone.
They are also an excellent source of magnesium which reduce levels of the stress hormone cortisol,  known to interrupt sleep .

2. Walnuts :

Walnuts contain tryptophan, a sleep-enhancing amino acid that helps make serotonin and melatonin, the “body clock” hormone that sets your sleep-wake cycles.

3. White Rice:

It has  been reported that white rice may be effective at improving sleep if it is consumed at least one hour before bedtime. It has a high glycemic index, so eating it will significantly cut down the time it takes for you to fall asleep.

4. Fruits :

Certain fruits  contain melatonin that help you fall asleep faster and wake up less often during the night. For instance, tart cherry juice and whole tart cherries contain a lot of melatonin, and bananas, pineapple, and oranges are also sources. And bananas also contain high amounts of magnesium which reduces stress levels.

5. Cottage cheese:

Cottage cheese,  pack the amino acid tryptophan, which increase serotonin levels. Serotonin is a brain chemical and low levels of it can contribute to insomnia.
