Home Remedies to Get Rid of Swelling in Feet

Anybody can fall victim to a swollen foot which can happen due to a serious disease, it might be even due to certain body conditions like poor blood circulation, premenstrual syndrome, pregnancy, sitting or standing for long, nutritional deficiencies, aging, obesity or even due to lack of proper exercise. If you are pregnant or have any liver or heart disease or a diabetic, then you need to take extra care as you are more likely to be stricken with such issues.

So let’s quickly check few of the best home remedies to abstain from a swollen foot-

1. Cucumber

Its anti-inflammatory properties help in removing extra water from your body. This can also cure edema and swelling.

Method –

  1. Cut the cucumber into thin slices.
  2. Place it in your swollen foot and tie it with a bandage.
  3. Leave it for 20-30 minutes before you remove it to see the difference.

 

2. Coriander

Coriander being an excellent diuretic helps in reducing the swelling in your feet by removing the unwanted liquid substances from the body.

Method –

  1. Boil coriander seeds in a bowl of water until it becomes half the original quantity.
  2. Allow it to cool and drink the liquid twice a day.

 

3. Barley

Though this doesn’t taste good, a mixture of this is an amazing diuretic. This washes away the toxins in the body which is present due to fluid retention thereby reducing the inflammation in your foot.

Method –

  1. Boil a cup of barley in water until the water turns to pale yellow color.
  2. Allow it to cool to room temperature or refrigerate it before you consume.

 

4. Cabbage

Cabbage has a natural ability to absorb water content from the body. It is also rich in anti-inflammatory substances. Hence when you have cabbage, it helps in reducing the excess liquid substances from your body which in turn helps to get rid of the lump in your feet.

Method –

  1. Clean the leaves of cabbage but do not wash it. It would have more effects if you refrigerate to use it but do not leave it to a frozen state.
  2. Wrap it with a strip and place it on the swollen foot.
  3. Allow it to remain for 30 minutes before you remove.

 

5. Rock Salt

Rock salt is another great ingredient that helps in reducing the lump quickly. It is rich in magnesium sulfate which is easily absorbed by the skin and this helps in getting rid of a swollen foot.

Method –

  1. Fill a tub with hot water and add half a tablespoon of rock salt to it.
  2. Now place the swollen foot into it and remain for 10-15 minutes.

 

6. Baking Soda

This is a wonderful component that helps a lot with your swollen foot. It has anti-inflammatory properties. In combination with rice water, baking soda helps in reducing the excess unwanted water from your body thus healing a swollen foot.

Method –

  1. Remove the water from cooked rice.
  2. Mix it with baking soda.
  3. Allow the mixture on your swollen foot for 10-15 minutes before you wash off.

 

7. Lemon Juice

Lemon is another powerful ingredient that is filled with anti-inflammatory properties. It washes away the toxins and the excess water content in your body. This not only cures your feet but also helps in reducing the inflammation in other body parts effectively.

Method –

  1. Mix two spoons of lemon juice in a glass of warm water.
  2. Mix honey to sweeten it.
  3. Drink this juice twice daily.

 

8. Ice Pack

The cold temperature of ice cubes helps in changing the blood flow in your body thereby aiding in the reduction of pain and lumps in your body parts. So this is proven to be one of the best home remedies to cure a swollen foot.

Method –

  1. Keep an ice pack on the swollen foot for 10-12 minutes.
  2. If you do not have an ice pack, wrap a towel with few ice cubes and place it on the affected area.
