ABOUT Simple Mutton Ishtu RECIPE

This is one of my comfort food dishes and this is my simple version of it. Those times when I don't want vegetables in it so this is how I make it and have it with appams or dosas.

Ingredients Serving: 2

  1. 250 gms Mutton (Cleaned, cut into pieces)
  2. 25 gms Ginger grated
  3. 20 gms Garlic grated
  4. 4 Green Chillies cut in large pieces
  5. 1 inch broken Cinnamon stick
  6. 7 Cloves
  7. 5 Cardamom crushed
  8. 2 sprigs Curry leaves
  9. 1 large onion chopped
  10. 1 cup thick Coconut milk
  11. 1 tsp Pepper corns coarsely ground
  12. Water as required
  13. Salt to taste
  14. 1 tbsp Oil

Instructions

  1. Marinate the mutton with 1/2 tsp pepper powder and salt for about an hour.
  2. Heat oil in a wok.
  3. Saute curry leaves, cardamom, cinnamon, onion, ginger, garlic, green chillies till they become translucent.
  4. Add the mutton. Saute for a couple of minutes.
  5. Add water and cook till done.
  6. Add peppercorns and cook further for a couple of minutes.
  7. Add the coconut milk, mix well and turn off the heat.
  8. Keep it covered before serving.
  9. Enjoy with appams or dosas.
