Simple Mutton Ishtu

Ingredients to make Simple Mutton Ishtu

  • 250 gms Mutton (Cleaned, cut into pieces)
  • 25 gms Ginger grated
  • 20 gms Garlic grated
  • 4 Green Chillies cut in large pieces
  • 1 inch broken Cinnamon stick
  • 7 Cloves
  • 5 Cardamom crushed
  • 2 sprigs Curry leaves
  • 1 large onion chopped
  • 1 cup thick Coconut milk
  • 1 tsp Pepper corns coarsely ground
  • Water as required
  • Salt to taste
  • 1 tbsp Oil

How to make Simple Mutton Ishtu

  1. Marinate the mutton with 1/2 tsp pepper powder and salt for about an hour.
  2. Heat oil in a wok.
  3. Saute curry leaves, cardamom, cinnamon, onion, ginger, garlic, green chillies till they become translucent.
  4. Add the mutton. Saute for a couple of minutes.
  5. Add water and cook till done.
  6. Add peppercorns and cook further for a couple of minutes.
  7. Add the coconut milk, mix well and turn off the heat.
  8. Keep it covered before serving.
  9. Enjoy with appams or dosas.
