ABOUT Easy Potato Cutlet RECIPE

Potato cutlet is a delicious combination of boiled potatoes and green peas. The unique cutlet is shallow fried in little amount of oil. It is a great snack and kids favorite. Potato cutlet is a yummy mix of soft potatoes, green peas and flavourful Indian spices. Potato cutlet can be fried according to preference, shallow fried if you want less oil, deep fried if you do not mind the oil. Spices can also be adjusted to one’s choice, green chillies and green coriander are also added to enhance the flavor. This easy to make snack can be had at any time of the day. It makes for a yummy breakfast option that is quick yet filling. Potato cutlets taste best with ketchup or a tangy coriander-mint chutney. Ingredients Serving: 10

  1. Potatoes - ½ kg
  2. Green peas - ½ cup
  3. Green chillies finely chopped - 8 nos
  4. Ginger-garlic paste - 2 tbsps
  5. Rusk powder or bread crumbs - 1 to 2 cups
  6. Red chilli powder - 1/2 tsp
  7. Turmeric powder - ¼ tsp
  8. Coriander powder - 1 tsp
  9. Cumin powder - ½ tsp
  10. Dry mango powder - ¼ tsp
  11. Garam masala powder - ½ tsp
  12. Rawa - ½ cup
  13. Oil -to shallow fry
  14. Salt -to taste

Instructions

  1. Pressure cook the potatoes for 4-5 whistles.
  2. Boil the green peas.
  3. Peel the potatoes and mashwith boiled green peas in a big bowl.
  4. Add all the spices along with the coriander leaves.
  5. Grind the bread slices and make a powder or use rusk powder.
  6. Mix with the mixture of potatoes and green peas.
  7. Mix well and make a medium thick dough.
  8. Heat the non-stick tawa and drizzle some oil.
  9. Make the small balls from the cutlet dough, flatten them, and roll it into the rava and shallow fry until golden brown in a medium flame.
  10. You can make these cutlets in either way, mix two tbsps of maida and one tbsp of corn flour with pinch of salt in water and dip the cutlets in the maida batter and roll into the bread crumbs and can fry it.
