Dora Cake is a Japanese pancake that traditionally consists of a sweet red bean paste, called Anko, sandwiched between two sweet pancakes. Though, primarily consumed in Japan the Dora cake has gained popularity owing to the popular children’s cartoon Doraemon.

The Dora Cake recipe by Vandana Jangid requires only 2 minutes for the preparation and 5 minutes for cooking. This recipe reinvents and modifies this popular Japanese dish in order to suit the tastes and preferences of children. The step-by-step procedure given to make the Dora cake is detailed and easy enough for even beginners to follow. To make the Dora cake, the first step is to prepare the batter for the pancakes. Mix the flour, baking soda, baking powder and sugar with milk and curd in order to create a smooth and lump-free batter. One of the main problems with making pancakes is that sometimes when poured onto a pan, the pancake batter tends to stick to the pan, which makes it very difficult to remove the pancake from the pan. There are two reasons for this problem-the first is that either the pan was not greased well or secondly that despite being well-greased, the pan was not hot enough to cook the pancake. To deal with this, melt atleast one stick of butter on the pan before making the pancake. To test if the pan is hot enough, pour 2-3 drops of the batter on the pan. If these drops can easily be removed, your pan is hot enough to make the pancakes. Pour 2 ladles of the pancake batter and slowly spread it. Ensure that the batter is not spread too thin, because if it is, the pancake will tear. Pancakes are traditionally thicker than crepes, so ensure that the pancake batter you have spread is atleast 1 inch thick. When small bubbles start to appear on the surface of the pancake, gently remove it from the sides and flip it in order to cook the other side as well. Once cooked, remove the pancake onto a plate and cut into two. Cover one half of the pancake with a jam of your choice and cover it with the other half of the pancake and Voila! Your Dora cake is ready to serve.
