ABOUT Masala Rice RECIPE

A recipe that can turn your left over rice into a tasty delight. Masala rice recipe is very popular in Mahrashtra and is a great way to use leftover rice. Plain rice are cooked with vegetables of choice and aromatics that give it a unique flavor. One can make masala rice recipe very nutritious by adding lots of veggies. Onions, garlic etc make this dish very yummy. A secret for masala rice recipe is the freshness of masalas, many people like to add pav bhaji masala to masala rice. Another name for masala rice is tawa pulao and is very popular. Common vegetables that are used in masala rice recipe are peas, cauliflower and potato.

Ingredients Serving: 2

  1. 1 bowl of cooked rice
  2. 1 big onion finley chopped
  3. 2 tomatoes finley chopped
  4. 1 small capsicum finely chopped
  5. 2 to 3 green chillies finley chopped
  6. fresh coriander finley chopped
  7. salt to taste
  8. 2 tsp Ginger garlic paste
  9. 3 to 4 garlic cloves chopped
  10. 2 tbsp oil
  11. few curry leaves
  12. 2 tsp mustard seeds
  13. 2 tsp coriander powder
  14. 1 tsp garam masala
  15. 1 tsp turmeric powder
  16. 1 tsp red chilly powder
  17. 3 tbsp sprouts (optional)
  18. 2 tbsp grated cheese (optional)

Instructions

  1. Take a pan and heat the oil.
  2. Once the oil is hot add the curry leaves, mustard seeds, green chilles and chopped garlic together.
  3. When the mustard seeds start to crackle, add the onions and saut:copyright: till light brown.
  4. After that add the capsicum and saut:copyright: for a minute.
  5. Then add the tomatoes, sprouts, ginger-garlic paste and all the masalas except for the garam masala and mix. Cover the pan for 1 minute so that the tomatoes and sprouts are cooked well.
  6. Now add the rice and toss well so that the rice is nicely coated with the masala. Now, add the garam masala mix and cover the pan for half a minute.
  7. Garnish with green coriander and grated cheese and serve hot.
