Masala Rice

Ingredients to make Masala Rice

  • 1 bowl of cooked rice
  • 1 big onion finley chopped
  • 2 tomatoes finley chopped
  • 1 small capsicum finely chopped
  • 2 to 3 green chillies finley chopped
  • fresh coriander finley chopped
  • Salt to taste
  • 2 tsp Ginger garlic paste
  • 3 to 4 garlic cloves chopped
  • 2 tbsp Oil
  • few curry leaves
  • 2 tsp Mustard seeds
  • 2 tsp coriander powder
  • 1 tsp garam masala
  • 1 tsp turmeric powder
  • 1 tsp red chilly powder
  • 3 tbsp sprouts (optional)
  • 2 tbsp grated cheese (optional)

How to make Masala Rice

  1. Take a pan and heat the oil.
  2. Once the oil is hot add the curry leaves, mustard seeds, green chilles and chopped garlic together.
  3. When the mustard seeds start to crackle, add the onions and saut :copyright: till light brown.
  4. After that add the capsicum and saut :copyright: for a minute.
  5. Then add the tomatoes, sprouts, ginger-garlic paste and all the masalas except for the garam masala and mix. Cover the pan for 1 minute so that the tomatoes and sprouts are cooked well.
  6. Now add the rice and toss well so that the rice is nicely coated with the masala. Now, add the garam masala mix and cover the pan for half a minute.
  7. Garnish with green coriander and grated cheese and serve hot.

My Tip:

If you add more cheese it tastes really yummy. Brown rice can also be used for this recipe.
