It is also Popularly called as Benne Dosa in Karnataka.

Ingredients Serving: 4

  1. Dosa Batter
  2. Raw Rice - 3 cups
  3. Parboiled rice -1cup
  4. Urad dal -1cup
  5. Poha -¾ cup
  6. Methi seeds – 2 tsp
  7. Red Kara Chutney
  8. Red chillies – 4-5 nos
  9. Potukadalai – 1 cup
  10. Onion – ½ no
  11. Tamarind – a small piece
  12. Coconut – 1 tblsp (optional)
  13. Salt – ½ tsp
  14. Sugar – 1tsp
  15. Garlic – 5/6 pods
  16. Tamarind – a small piece
  17. Coconut – 1tblsp (optional)
  18. Salt – ½ tsp
  19. Sugar – 1tsp
  20. Potato Masala
  21. Boiled Potato - 4 nos
  22. Onion - 2 no
  23. Green Chillies - 5 nos
  24. Ginger - 2 tsp
  25. Mustard seeds - 1 tsp
  26. Urad dal - 1 tsp
  27. Turmeric pd - 1 tsp
  28. Sugar - 1 tsp
  29. Salt to taste
  30. Curry Leaves / Coriander Leaves, Oil - 1 tblsp

Instructions

  1. Dosa Batter - Soak the Rice and Poha together and Urad Dal separately. Now grind the Urad dal and ; when half way through add the rice and poha mixture and grind together.
  2. It takes a bit more time than normal. Remove and add salt and allow to ferment as we do for Idli and Dosa.
  3. Chutney : Grind all the ingredients in a blender to a thick paste with little water.
  4. Potato Masala - In a pan take oil, add Mustard seeds, Urad dal, Green Chilles, Ginger, Curry leaves, Onion finely chopped. Saute for 2 mins till the Onion become soft , add Termeric powder.
  5. Saute for 2 min, now to this add the mashed boiled potatoes. Add salt, sugar and 1/2 cup water. Mix well and bring to boil. Finally add the coriander leaves and keep aside. Note : It should be a thick mixture - spreadable.
  6. To Assemble the Dosa - Spread the dosa batter in the tawa wait ( it should be little thick than our normal dosa) for sometime then drizzle oil all the sides. Then apply the butter over the dosa.
  7. And allow to rest for 1 min , then spread the red chutney over the dosa wait for 1 min then now spread all over the potato Masala then wait again for 1 min then remove and serve. Donot Flip the Dosa
