Moong Dal Halwa

Ingredients to make Moong Dal Halwa

  • 100 gm moon dal
  • 100 gm desi ghee
  • 15-20 gm sooji
  • 100 gm khoya
  • 100-120 gm sugar
  • few strands of kesar
  • cashewnuts, almonds, kishmish
  • 3 tsp milk
  • 120-150 ml water
  • For Garnish: cashewnuts and almonds

How to make Moong Dal Halwa

  1. Soak moong dal for 3-4 hours. Drain it and blend in a mixer and set aside.
  2. Make sugar syrup using sugar and water.
  3. Dissolve kesar in warm milk and keep aside.
  4. Dry roast suji and keep aside.
  5. In same pan roast khoya and keep aside.
  6. Take a oil in non stick karahi, add dal mixture and cook for approx 25 minutes.
  7. Add roasted suji and khoya and cook for 5 minute to mix all three.
  8. Add sugar syrup, saffron and stir continuously till cooked.
  9. Add dry fruits.
  10. Garnish with cashewnuts and almonds.

My Tip:

Stir continuosly.
