Ingredients Serving: 6

  1. Cauliflower 500 grams
  2. 2 tablespoons oil
  3. Onion 1 medium size
  4. Turmeric powder 1/2 teaspoon
  5. Cumin seeds 1 teaspoon
  6. Mustard seeds 1 teaspoon
  7. Cinnamon stick 1 inch
  8. Curry leaves 10 to 12
  9. Salt 1 teaspoon
  10. Black pepper powder 1 teaspoon
  11. Dried whole chillies 2...3
  12. For mellum paste...
  13. Desicated coconut 1/2 cup
  14. Green chillies 2..3
  15. Curry leaves 15...16
  16. Garlic cloves 3...5
  17. Mustard seeds 1 teaspoon
  18. Fennel seeds 1 teaspoon
  19. Water 2 tablespoons

Instructions

  1. Wash the cauliflower and break into very small florets and dice the stem pieces very small
  2. In a pan steam with salt and turmeric powder adding 3..4 tablespoons of water
  3. Once its tender remove from pan
  4. Now make mellum paste
  5. Powdered fennel seeds and mustard seeds
  6. Grind with desicated coconut , curry leaves, green chillies and garlic cloves and 2 tablespoons of water
  7. Now add oil in a pan
  8. Fry chopped onions
  9. Add mustard seeds and cumin seeds
  10. Add cinnamon stick, broken dried chillies and curry leaves
  11. When the onions are soften add the steamed cauliflower
  12. Add the mellum paste in it
  13. Mix all well
  14. Fry for 2 minutes more
  15. Serve with rice and chettiappam
