ABOUT Salted Banana Chips RECIPE

A favourite snack in most states of South India. These easy to make chips are made from raw bananas that are deep fried and then salted. A great snack and loved during Onam

Ingredients Serving: 4

  1. 5 medium-sized raw bananas
  2. 3-4 cups of water
  3. Oil to deep fry (Preferably coconut)
  4. Black pepper freshly crushed (Optional)
  5. Salt to taste(use sendha namak while fasting)

Instructions

  1. Take a large bowl and pour water in it.
  2. With the help of a mandoline slicer, slice the bananas directly into the bowl of water.
  3. Heat oil in a kadai/wok to deep fry these banana slices.
  4. Meanwhile, remove the banana slices from the bowl of water and pat them dry them using kitchen towels or napkins.
  5. Once the oil is hot, add in the banana slices in batches and fry on medium flame.
  6. Note that the banana slices should not stick to each other.
  7. Fry till the banana slices become crisp and change color.
  8. Transfer these fried banana chips to a plate lined with paper towels to absorb the excess oil.
  9. Once cooled, store in an airtight container.
  10. Sprinkle salt and pepper directly into the container filled with these chips and give it a good shake.
  11. Serve these banana chips instantly or you can also opt to store it for any family occasion.
