Sooji/rava upma

Ingredients to make Sooji/rava upma

  • 1 bowl sooji
  • 1/2 bowl ghee or oil
  • 4 bowl water
  • 1 onion chopped
  • 1 potato chopped
  • 1 bowl fresh peas pods
  • 1/4tsp heeng /asafoetida
  • 1/2tsp jeera
  • 1/2tsp saunf/fennel seeds
  • 1/2tsp rai/mustard seeds
  • 1tsp chana dal
  • 1tsp urad dal
  • 1 bowl roasted peanuts
  • 2 green chillie cut in length wise
  • Salt ,red chilli powder, garam masala powder 1 tsp /per taste
  • Juice of 1 lemon
  • 10 to 12 chopped curry leaves
  • Few chopped coriender leaves n sliced tomatoes Fr garnishing

How to make Sooji/rava upma

  1. Heat ghee /oil in a heavy bottom pan or kadhai.
  2. Crackle heeng jeera rai saunf dals along with green chilies.
  3. Fry onions till slightly pink.
  4. Then add potatoes with peas fry and cook till tender with lid.
  5. Add dry masala mix nicely.
  6. Add 1/2 bowl peanuts mix properly.
  7. Add water let it boil.
  8. After 2 to 3 boils add suji slowly in it.
  9. Stir continuously till thick or suji absorbes water.
  10. Pour lemon juice mix nicely.
  11. Serve hot garnish with the rest of peanuts coriander leaves and tomatoes.

My Tip:

Stir continuosly while add suji in water.
