Ingredients to make Banana Chips

  • 3 Unripe Plantain (raw banana/Kela)
  • 4 cups Coconut Oil
  • 1 tsp Turmeric powder
  • 1 tbsp of Salt

How to make Banana Chips

  1. Make grooves into the skin of the plaintain and peel it off gently.
  2. Mix the turmeric powder in a bowl of water and immerse the peeled plaintain in this. Leave for 30 mins.
  3. Using a kitchen cloth pat the soaked plaintain.
  4. Slice the plantain into thin discs.You can use a mandoline too.
  5. Heat oil in a pan till it reaches to an almost-smoking point.
  6. Slide in the chips, in small batches till they start to brown a bit on each side.
  7. Mix the salt in about 2 cups water and sprinkle over the chips.
  8. Drain the chips on kitchen towels to remove excess oil
  9. Let cool and enjoy as a snack
