Butter Biscuits

Ingredients to make Butter Biscuits

  • 225 gms plain flour plus extra for dusting
  • 220 gms butter at room temperature plus extra for greasing
  • 125 gm caster sugar plus extra for dusting
  • 1 tsp vanila essence
  • Milk as required to make the dough

How to make Butter Biscuits

  1. Sift the flour into a large bowl. Add the butter and rub it in with your fingertips until the mixture resembles fine breadcrumbs. Stir in the caster sugar and vanilla essence and a little milk to form a firm dough.
  2. Roll out the dough on a lightly floured work surface to a thickness of 2.5 cm / 1 inch. Stamp out desired shapes using a biscuit cutter measuring 2.5 cm / 1 inch deep. Arrange the shapes on a lightly greased baking sheet.
  3. Bake in a pre heated oven, 180 degree C for 12 minutes or until the shapes are a lightly golden colour. Transfer the shapes to cool completely.

My Tip:

Can make a small dent into a round shape spread the dough and put a tbsp of jam and then bake.
