ABOUT MOONG DAL HALWA RECIPE

Ingredients Serving: 6

  1. 1 cup yellow moong dal
  2. 1/2 cup ghee/clear butter
  3. 1 cup warm milk
  4. 1 n 1/4 cup sugar
  5. pinch of saffron soaked in 1/4 cup warm milk
  6. cardamom powder as per taste (opt)
  7. chopped nuts for garnishing (opt)
  8. silver warkh / leaves (opt)

Instructions

  1. 1.Soak the dal for 4-6 hours and grind coarsely
  2. 2.In a non stick pan add ghee and moong dal and roast till fragrant and brown. this will take about 20 minutes. Stir continuously to avoid from sticking.
  3. 3. Add warm milk and stir continuously till all the milk is absorbed and the dal is cooked through.
  4. 4.Add sugar and mix well. Add saffron and few dry fruit (chopped almond and pistachios). The halwa should start leaving the ghee off the edges. Take the halwa off the heat but stir for another few minutes. Add the cardamom powder to it.
  5. 5.Serve hot or cold garnished with sliced nuts and silver warkh.
